Just some wonderful things I wanted to share about my Sweet Papa!
After high school graduation, he pursued a career in construction before being drafted into the Army in 1944, where he was assigned as machine gunner. He was a proud Veteran of World War II and was awarded the Silver Star, the Russian Medal for Bravery, and 3 major battle stars, one being for the Battle of the Bulge. After his military service, he returned to the construction field. He taught Cabinetmaking and Carpentry at Lively Technical Center for 27 years until his retirement in 1980.
He was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church for 59 years and was involved in many church building projects. He also participated in church outreach programs to the homebound providing music on his guitar and harmonica until his health declined.

One thing mentioned at the funeral was his compassion for the families of the men he had to kill during the war. He said he would never forget the blood on his hands from the lives he had to take to save his country.
Men like Papa worked hard, fought hard, lived life hard. They truly loved and were faithful. It is so sad to see that generation slowly leaving us. They will never be forgotten!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
